Amy established Insight Hand Therapy with the vision of providing quality, evidence-based hand therapy services to those who need it. She aims to provide honest, up-to-date treatment and education to empower clients along their recovery journey. Her style of care focuses on each client as an individual and involves clear communication (without the medical jargon) to help map out a rehabilitation pathway.
She has a special interest and focus on the conservative management of conditions (without surgery) when able, and assisting clients to better understand and manage their upper limb conditions.
Outside of work, you will usually find Amy at the beach with her husband and dog (Veda), pottering in the garden or continuing to renovate her home! Amy grew up on the Gold Coast and has strong ties to the community in the local area.
Amy has had extensive experience in a variety of caseloads in the public and private sector between Australia and the United Kingdom. Prior to founding Insight Hand Therapy, she worked in the private sector providing specialised hand therapy services in South East Queensland. In this role, Amy worked closely with a number of highly regarded surgeons to achieve optimal outcomes for a wide variety of clients with hand and upper limb injuries or trauma. She has a strong focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for her clients, in a friendly and caring environment.
Referrals / Rebates

If you have Occupational Therapy cover through Private Health Insurance, you will be able to claim part of the Hand Therapy consultation charge through your health insurer (eg Medibank / BUPA / AHM). The amount will depend on your level of cover. It is recommended that you check with your health fund directly regarding your level of cover prior to your appointment. HICAPS (instant claiming) is available at both clinics.

Consultations are not claimable under Medicare unless you have been referred to us by a GP under a Chronic Disease Management Plan (also known as Enhanced Primary Care Plan / EPC). If you have an EPC referral, Medicare will reimburse the amount of approximately $56 to you, for up to 5 sessions over the period of one year. You will also be charged the concession rate for these sessions, please see below.
Please speak to your GP directly in regards to obtaining one of these care plans.

Please make sure your treating doctor has written a referral for hand therapy and that you send us a copy of this prior to your appointment. You will also need your current medical certificate and claim number – this will ensure we are able to bill the insurer directly. You will not incur any costs, as long as you have the paperwork as listed above and an active claim number.
You do not need a referral to book an appointment for hand therapy as a private client. You only need a referral if you are:
Claiming through an independent insurance body other than your private health (e.g. WorkCover, NDIS orother third party insurers)
Funded under Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) or
On an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (please see below for additional information)

X-ray, US or MRI results
Operative notes or hospital discharge paperwork
Photos that may give us some context for your concerns
